Woodland Projects

Volunteer work parties carry out conservation work in several woods and forests in the local area. We undertake a range of tasks including coppicing and scrub clearance, with the aim of improving the environment for dormice, butterflies, woodland flowers, birds and a wide range of other insects and invertebrates. These work parties are friendly and fun and new volunteers are always welcome!

If you would like to come and join us, these are the contacts for the various sites:

Dymock Forest: Dymock Forest is famed for a golden show of daffodils every spring. We meet every Thursday morning during the winter months, at 9.30am in Dymock Forest. Please contact Kate Wollen at kate.wollen@forestryengland.uk for more details.

Frith Wood: Frith Wood has a beautiful and varied native woodland flora, including ancient trees with cracks and crevices that provide homes for birds, bats and dormice. We meet in Frith Wood at 9.30am every last Wednesday of the month during the winter months. If you would like to join us at this work party, please contact Alan Pike at a.pike0@icloud.com or Kate Wollen at kate.wollen@forestryengland.uk for more details.

Haugh Wood: Haugh Wood is one of the best woods in the West Midlands for the nationally scarce Wood White butterfly. We meet at 9.30am in Haugh Wood every first Saturday of the winter months. Please contact Kate Wollen at kate.wollen@forestryengland.uk for more details.
